Discovered: Featuring members of now defunct Howards Alias, Drawings were recommended to me by both Burn The Fleet and Viva Sleep (both signed to Walnut Tree Records) as "the best band in Southampton". This track is taken from their self released 'Seven Deadly Sins' EP, with a follow up album due out this year.

Band Name: Tiger Please
Track Title: Winter And The Storyteller
Location: Pontypridd

Discovered: It's been a year since the manager for Tiger Please asked me to consider them for Punktastic Un-Scene 5 and since then the band have released a mini album (They Don't Change Under Moonlight) and an EP (Seaons) on Walnut Tree Records, with the artwork for both releases designed by GoLRG. Tiger Please have gone on to play high profile support slots with Kids In Glass Houses and then appeared at Download Festival, soon to be followed by an appearance at Sonisphere Festival.

Discovered: I first took notice of this band when they posted a studio video to the track "Golden Grounds" on a forum I frequent, and as they share the same manager as Tiger Please I figured it was worth paying attention. I've recently released their debut single "Home Is The Fire", which features "Golden Grounds" as a B-side, with the artwork being designed by Ryan at GoLRG. The band are currently working on a new album..

Band Name: Burn The Fleet
Track Title: The Greatest Fire
Location: Southampton

Discovered: One of my first signings, Waiting For Sirens, highly recommended this band and it took me far too long to see them live. They blew me away though and they continue to do so. The band released their debut EP with my label this year, however this is a brand new track and exclusive to the compilation. Prepare the sails!

Band Name: City Light Thief
Track Title: The Golden Roots
Location: Grevenbroich (Germany)

Discovered: Frontman Benjamin Mirtschin was the first person outside of the UK to order from Walnut Tree Records and he's since been a big supporter of all of my releases. His band, City Light Thief, are here on merit though. They remind me of a German version of Thursday, with a quick change of pace and often frantic vocals. The band released this single as a free download recently with Midsummer Records.

Band Name: Kidnapper Bell
Track Title: Andrew Built A Castle
Location: Birmingham

Discovered: Recommended to me by a well known face on the scene, Barbara Stewart, midlanders Kidnapper Bell are fronted by American Keith Cole and sent me a great hand made demo recently. Well worth finding some of their older material too.

Band Name: Arden
Track Title: A Slow Spiral Geoffrey
Location: Baltimore (USA)

Discovered: This female fronted quintet were riding high on the indie pop charts on Bandcamp and I immediately fell in love with "A Slow Spiral Geoffrey" and emailed the band. The whole of their EP, The Big Picture, has a very summery vibe and it's great to be able to represent them in the UK

Band Name: Olympians
Track Title: Off With Their Heads
Location: Indianapolis (USA)

Discovered: Another band who were riding high on the indie pop charts on Bandcamp, Midwest Americans instantly reminded me of the band Cavil At Rest (who have since changed their name to Local Natives) and it wasn't long before I'd asked about selling their EP in the UK. 'Off With Their Heads' is from their release "You Were My Inspiration" which is available through Walnut Tree Records in the UK.

Band Name: Pareto
Track Title: Nothing Major Something Sergeant

Discovered: Pareto started following the label on twitter sometime ago and it's taken me until now to check them out. This Glasgow based trio have recently released their debut EP and it's highly recommended.

Band Name: The Barent Sea
Track Title: I’ve Got The Right Idea
Location: Glasgow

Discovered: Twitter is becoming a bit of a theme here…The Barent Sea are another band who contacted me on twitter and they caught my eye by covering Manchester Orchestra and from there I found their debut release “Bear Island EP”

Band Name: Pick Your Weapon
Track Title: Something About Their Fighting Style, Something Familiar.
Location: Birmingham

Discovered: Vocalist Nick Moreton is another twitter follower who has supported the label and again his band are here on merit. Pick Your Weapon are the youngest (in terms of time spent together as a band) on this compilation and this track should only be served as a starter for what's yet to come. Nick is also involved with BOI Records, who are quickly becoming one of my favourite UK labels.

Band Name: The Long Haul
Track Title: Where Bees Lay Their Honey
Location: Southampton

Discovered: This uncompromising quintet are made up of various Southampton based bands, most notably Viva Sleep and A Word Like Attack who both featured on Punktastic Un-Scene 5. The band is still in its infancy but they are already gaining quite a reputation for their ferocious live sets.
